Behind the Scenes 2013

I can’t believe that 2013 is almost over!  It was an incredible year of growth for my business.  I’m so grateful to be in this industry and to get to work with such amazing couples.

To help you see me in action, I put together a little behind the scenes post.  Warning- I’m a MESS in some of these images!  Wedding photography often requires a LOT of crazy contortions and definitely messy hair- my goal isn’t to look perfect it’s to capture the moment perfectly!  A HUGE shoutout to Chelsea Anderson and Jessica Cochran for second shooting for me this year- all credit for these images goes to them!

I like to SHOW my poses!

Stepping UNDERNEATH the gown lets you get a little closer without ruining the dress!Did you know Wedding Photographers are also expert directors?Sometimes you have so little time in between the ceremony and the reception that you forget to take your flash off your camera!  Don’t worry, it wasn’t on!  Sometimes the bush must be stepped in.Anything for the shot!  This one ended up being featured in HuffPost Weddings so I’d say the kneeling was worth it!
THIS is how you get a shoe shot… duh.  Please notice the hyper-extended left leg… no idea.  And there’s that flash again- a totally unnecessary additional weight!  Such focus on these details shots. This shot from Nicole’s home was actually prefaced with “Do you trust me?”  Luckily she totally did and it ended up being one of my favorite dress shots!  If you’re lucky, sometimes I show you the picture I just took!  “OH, you’re taking MY picture!”

I absolutely love my brides.

I’ve mastered the stealthy “creep onto the dance floor” move.  Still with that hyper-extended left leg… please notice the bored flower girl in the background!I just love the colors in this shot!

I’ll give you two guesses as to my favorite dress of the season!  😛
