Tommy and Tyler have truly “grown up” together, through almost 8 years of dating. Tyler describes the braces, funny glasses, and poor hairstyles that they have weathered together. But their relationship has also been strengthened through long distance dating at rival universities and the years of building a life in Richmond. When they got their dog, Brewer, they began to make plans for the future. It was on walk with Brewer, along the James River, where Tommy proposed on December 17th, 2017.
Their wedding day was a beautiful celebration of an absolutely beloved couple. The years together have somehow made their affection sweeter; their joy more radiant. Tommy snuck adoring little kisses as often as he could, and Tyler’s nose-scrunch smile lit up the room.
Tyler’s love of both family and the little ones in her life was evident throughout the entire day. In loving memory of her sweet nephew Jacob, Tyler incorporated sentimental pieces throughout her day, including a piece of his baby blanket sewn into her dress and a lion plush that was his. Eden, Jacob’s little sister, was the flower girl sporting the cutest barefoot sandals! Theo, a precious cousin, took his ring-bearing responsibilities very seriously and Tyler’s sister Cary, is expecting nephew number two!
Tommy’s family flocked in serious numbers from Wisconsin, not to miss a single moment of this special day! The cake knife that Tommy and Tyler held has been used by each member of the family at their own weddings, engravings marking monograms and dates. Grandma Gloria warned me that “the Wisconson-ites” would insist upon a chicken dance, complete with chicken hats bestowed on the bride and groom.
The day was full of sweet and significant moments, as well as silly and fun new memories. Above all, the glory was given to God, the Covenant Keeper.
Tommy and Tyler, it was an honor to serve your family and to witness your marriage as it began. Congratulations and enjoy that Jamaica sun!!
