Thomas & Cadie | East Lynn Farms Wedding

“We met while working as Resident Assistants at our Alma Mater, Christopher Newport University. I was the young and wide-eyed sophomore and he was the older, wise senior. We were fast friends and confidants. A few years and many challenges later, our paths finally aligned. We jumped head-first, and the next thing I knew, he honored me with his fraternity letters, a symbol of love, dedication, and hope for a future.

Thomas and I tend to do things a bit backwards at times. Before the proposal came our first apartment and a few furry children, our darlings Oliver, Quincy, and Josephine. Knowing that a proposal was in the works, however, didn’t make the event any less special. While in cahoots with a few family and friends, Thomas planned the perfect proposal. It started with a hiccup at the Air and Space Museum metal detector, continued with gale force winds, and ended on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. It was the public proposal we both said we never wanted, but now I couldn’t imagine it any other way. To celebrate we gathered at Founding Farmers, our favorite restaurant in the city.”

Almost every aspect of their East Lynn Farms wedding day held meaning to this sweet couple. Two history teachers couldn’t pass up the opportunity to commit their lives to one another in a pre-Civil War era landmark! The 1800’s dairy barn was an incredible space full of character. Thomas’ grandfather officiated with mirthful exuberance while the bridal party wore the colors of Phi Mu and KDR. Surrounded by significance and joy, their celebration was a testament to the strength of the families from which they came and the future of the one they are building. It was an honor for me to be included.

Cadie and Thomas, what a privilege it is to know you!

This blog was, by far, the most incredible blessing I have come across in quite a long time, definitely the most memorable!

    I wept.
