This past year I started reading a book called “One Thousand Gifts.”  It was given to me as a birthday present in April.  When I got it, I thought, “a book on thankfulness?  I’m already thankful!”  But as I started to read it I realize how thankless I really was.  Oh I had a lot to learn in the department of thankfulness and Ann Voskamp taught me that!

This year for me has been a journey of joy as I learn to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  1 Thessalonians 5:18  Do you know why it’s His will?  Not because He loves to command us, but because he knows that when we give thanks, we are filled with joy.  Joy overflows in worship to Him and as John Piper says, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”

Being completely satisfied with God is being completely satisfied with all that He gives, and He is the giver of all good things!  What an awesome God we serve that He would create our hearts to receive the most joy when we are doing the best thing: thanking Him!

Thankful for so many things today, but mostly for God’s gift of marriage and my life with this man.
