Stationery: it’s a staple in the desk of every Southern girl. My mama raised me to send thank you notes for everything! Anyone else remember getting monogramed stationery in your stocking EVERY Christmas? I used to dread the pile of notes I was required to write.
But I’m thankful for the discipline that this Southern tradition taught me. Because eventually all the effort and patience required to capture words correctly turned from drudgery to joy. It became almost an art to me- weighing, crafting, writing. These days I love when I get a chance to sip some coffee and write a note that is well thought out. It is my absolute favorite kind of gift (both to give and receive!) because it is from the heart. To me, it tangibly communicates value.
In honor of this treasured tradition, take a few minutes to write a note today! You’ll be happy you did and you will make someone’s day!
