Why, hello 2013!

2012 was a whirlwind of a year, chock-full of SO many things!  I am so thankful for Zach who was my greatest supporter as I took the plunge and started this business.  Without his constant advice and encouragement I would NOT be where I am today!  Isn’t he a cutie?!

He helped me yesterday as we thought through goals for 2013.  There is SO much I want to accomplish in this industry but it all has to be done one step at a time.  Here are the top five things we came up with for Lindsay Fauver Photography in 2013.

1.  New Website: This one has served it’s purpose well but it’s just not CRISP and CLEAN and doesn’t represent my photography style very well.  I am finally making the ShowIt plunge and can not wait to reveal the new site!

2.  Shoot 12 Weddings: This is a pretty modest number and with over half of that already booked I know I’ll make it.  Of course I’m not limiting myself to 12 weddings, I just think that’s a normal, healthy number for a part-time Wedding Photographer!  You can help me with this goal!!  For the month of January and February if you refer me to a couple that BOOKS with me, YOU will receive a free portrait session or a $100 Visa Gift Card as my way of saying thanks!

3.  Get Featured: I am SO terrible at submitting my work to be featured.  It is such an easy process thanks to Two Bright Lights but it’s something that just never made it into my workflow this year.  My clients are all amazing, beautiful people and I think they totally deserve to have the world (or at least the blogosphere!) see their images!  I’m committed to making this happen this year!

4.  Upgrade to the 35 1.4 and the 85 1.2:  My 5D Mark III is the best purchase I ever made and it works flawlessly with my 50 1.2, and 135 2.  I love love LOVE Canon’s “L” series lenses.  My wide angle is still my 28 which works really well but can have slight distortion on the sides so the 35 will replace it as soon as possible.  I love my 85 1.8 but I’m ready for the crisp-ness that comes from using the professional series glass.

5.  Learn OCF: With Canon’s latest flashes, the 600ex-rt’s, off camera flash is SO much easier!  I got to play with it while second shooting for Melissa last summer and I literally went home that night and purchased a second 600 so I could have it for my weddings this year.  The effect it creates is just beautiful and I can’t wait to show off my reception images this summer!

I’m so excited about all the possibilities that 2013 holds!  What are your goals for this year?  Leave a comment below with your goals for a chance to win a free Starbucks drink!  I could totally use a Salted Caramel Mocha on this rainy day, anyone else?!
